Senior Defensive Driving Classes (For those 55 and over)

AAA Senior Defensive Driving Classes

Would you like to use your experience to become a better driver and pay less for you automobile insurance? AAA's Senior Defensive Driving course is a two-day, four hour per day class designed to reduce crashes involving mature drivers by increasing the understanding of how age affects driving decisions, and how these decisions can alter your risk. Popular discussion topics include improved vehicle technologies, changes in the law, and the problem of aggressive drivers.

The classes cover the following important aspects of driving:

  • SEEING. How to use your eyes effectively. Many drivers don't know how.
  • COMMUNICATING. How to "read" traffic and communicate with other drivers.
  • ADJUSTING SPEED. Factors that a driver must be aware of to determine safe speed.
  • MARGIN OF SAFETY. Keeping a safe cushion between your vehicle and other traffic.
  • DRIVING EMERGENCIES. The best way to handle emergency situations.
  • AGGRESSIVE DRIVING & ROAD RAGE PREVENTION. How to avoid aggressive drivers and prevent being involved in a dangerous event.

CarFit—Smart Features for Mature Drivers

How well do you fit your vehicle? Changes in vision, flexibility, strength, and even size and height can reduce a driver's control behind the wheel. Adjusting the fit of a vehicle may compensate for such changes, making the driver more comfortable and responsive. Using a 12 point checklist, a trained CarFit technician will evaluate the "fit" of the vehicle and discuss potential car adjustments and adaptations. The entire check-up process takes about 15 minutes per appointment. For more information, download the brochure or visit
